My name is Buki, and together with my sister Wura, I co-founded Josimah Baby Bank. As a mother of three active boys and a passionate registered nurse, I have experienced both the joys and challenges of raising children. Additionally, my work has allowed me to witness many families’ struggles in providing essential items for their babies and young children. These experiences have inspired me to launch this initiative to support families in need in and around Reading, Bracknell, and Wokingham communities.
The financial burden of raising a child can be overwhelming, particularly for single parents or those experiencing unexpected hardships. No parent should be forced to choose between providing food for their family and meeting their baby’s basic needs, such as diapers, clothing, and essential equipment.
At Josimah Baby Bank, our mission is to bring hope to families in need by ensuring every child has access to the necessities required to thrive. We achieve this by collecting donations of gently used baby items and distributing them to families facing financial difficulties, from newborns to toddlers. Our goal is to support families through every stage of early childhood.
What distinguishes Josimah Baby Bank is the personal care we extend to each interaction. As a parent and caregiver, I understand the importance of empathy and compassion during challenging times. Our volunteers are committed to providing support with dignity and respect, offering practical help, a listening ear, and a sense of community to those we serve.
I warmly invite you to join us in this meaningful endeavour. Your support, whether through donations, volunteering your time, or spreading the word, can make a significant difference for families in need. Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up healthy, happy, and loved.
